Welcome to Junes Haven

Deciding where to place a beloved parent when they can no longer look after themselves is an enormous decision.

When making this life-changing decision for your loved one, you need to take into account so many factors and we know just what an emotional time this can be for everyone concerned.  Having had first-hand experience and as a result, Junes Haven Frail Care, was started in 2010 by Joy Weissenberg-Borley and her mother Debbie Watson in memory and honour of their beloved June Watson.

Our Facilities

Junes Haven is a small exclusive home accommodating up to 20 residents.

We have 5 Private spacious rooms and 4 Shared rooms. Our dedicated Registered Nurse, Sr Marcia Kay comes in 3 times a week to oversee the care and medical checks of all our residents. We have a lovely hairdresser who comes in Weekly, supported by his assistant. Junes Haven is monitored throughout the home by Cameras to ensure absolute safety and care of our residents.  These cameras are monitored daily by Management.

Wifi is available throughout the home, to our residents. Our lounge has DSTV, Netflix, Showmax.  Residents are also allowed to put up their own TVs in the rooms, and a DSTV dish is available for use.

    About

Junes Haven Frail Care is an exclusive private frail care in Parktown West, Johannesburg.  Our beautiful home is the perfect place for the elderly who require daily full-time care.  We specialize in Dementia and Alzheimer’s care, Palliative care, and all other aspects of frail care.

Junes Haven is set in exquisite tranquil gardens and our home is a place of love and safety.

Junes Haven is owner run and is assisted by a full complement of dedicated staff.  We have a registered Nurse, Matron, and a team of excellent Carers to take care of all our beloved residents.

When a resident moves in with us, we are then able to take over and handle all aspects of thier medical care, from monthly and other medication arrangements to daily basic medical checks and facilitating appointments with external health care providers. Our residents are also encouraged and assisted in doing daily walks and exercise.

We assist with shopping for personal extras (upon the families agreement) for our residents and the cost of this is added to the monthly account. Our hairdresser Alan and his assistant come once a week to do the resident’s hair (optional, and only upon agreement of the family).  Alan has a gentle yet happy personality and the ladies look forward to this weekly visit to June’s Haven.  His charges are minimal and these are added to the monthly account.

Pastor James Baker (Methodist) and Rev. Michelle (Anglican) who come through bi- monthly to serve the residents with Holy Communion as well as a lovely service, again with the consent of the families.

We facilitate and assist in taking our residents to all medical appointments (Travel billed at Uber rates).

We also assist in taking our residents to social functions and outings (Travel billed at Uber rates).

When a resident joins our Junes Haven family,  a WhatsApp group is formed for the family and we send daily pictures and updates of the residents on these WhatsApp family groups. This form of daily communication is particularly valued by families living out of Johannesburg and/or abroad.

We pride ourselves in providing a safe and happy environment for our residents and in particular,  the high level of care and compassion provided by our team of handpicked carers. The beautiful spacious garden is a tranquil setting for our residents (weather dependant) to enjoy time outside, take walks, play cards, enjoy their meals and spend time with their visiting family.

Our ladies enjoy a weekly manicure and hand massages and a weekly pedicure and foot massages given by our dedicated carers.

We provide delicious meals and cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

All in all, we live our our dream daily for Junes Haven to be a place of peace and love and hope. We are not just a Frail Care home; we are a Family.

    Where it all Started

A few years ago, June Watson, beloved mother and grandmother of Debbie and Joy, lost her husband Ken to an aggressive form of Leukaemia.

June was, throughout her life up to that sad time, the strong backbone of the Watson family in terms of love and nurture, gently guiding her family through kindness and daily prayer.
Her husband Ken was a good provider, decision maker and care giver of his beautiful wife – and sadly, when he passed away, our dear mom and grand-mom lost her will and strength to live. She had lost the love of her life.
